‘Life is a rollercoaster. You just gotta ride it,’ sang Irish warbler Ronan Keating, and he may have had England’s World Cup woes in mind when penning that one. From the abject showing in 2014 to Frank Lampard’s goal-that-never-was against Germany four years later, life as a Three Lions supporter is never easy. But optimism is high for an improved 2018 campaign, so can Gareth Southgate’s men live up to the billing in Russia. Here are our England vs Tunisia betting tips.
Southgate has overseen something of an improvement in his time as manager. His side now operates in a more contemporary fashion with a flexible 3-4-3 system, and he has introduced pace and vitality to an outfit that has endured the prehistoric coaching of Roy Hodgson, Steve McClaren et al in recent years.
Further encouragement comes from an agreeable group draw which features the tricky Belgium but distinctly winnable ties against Panama and Monday’s opponents Tunisia.
The Tunisians will be a tough nut to crack. They will get stuck in, work hard and be well drilled, as most Northern African teams tend to be, and while they lack obvious quality in their squad they will present something of a red-shirted enigma for Southgate to crack.
So will this be ‘same old England’, or will the Three Lions show a new and improve cutting edge on the world stage. Let’s take a look in our England vs Tunisia betting tips.

England vs Tunisia Betting Tips
You sense that this game will have a predictable pattern to it. Tunisia will play in a similar vein to Egypt against Uruguay; they will counter attack with gusto, but spend the bulk of the match with eleven men behind the ball in an attempt to steal a point or a 1-0 victory.
It’s an interesting strategy because England are well versed in breaking down sides who come to defend. Just take a look at the Three Lions’ record in qualification campaigns in recent years: it’s outstanding.
Gone are the days where England play four-four-flippin’-two, to paraphrase Mike Bassett, and make themselves wholly predictable. There is pace in this side, guile out wide and in the middle, and you’d fancy Southgate’s men to have more than enough to break down the Tunisians.
Eagles Ready to Soar?
Tunisia’s nickname is the Eagles, and judging from their qualification campaign it’s not exactly apt.
They did just enough, edging out footballing hotbed the Democratic Republic of Congo by a single point, but it was hardly comprehensive.
Tunisia do have a decent core of European players, which will help them to acclimatise to Russian conditions, and their performances in friendlies have been half decent: draws with Portugal and Turkey backed by a narrow 0-1 defeat to Spain.
This is going to be one of those archetypal evenings for English football fans where nails are bitten and hair is occasionally pulled out.
That said, there is just something about the Three Lions under Southgate that offers promise. We’re backing England to Win to Nil here at 10/11 (1.91) with William Hill.
It’s hard to know how to add to our England vs Tunisia predictions. This match could be a turgid snorefest where the Three Lions sneak a 1-0 win, or they come out of the gate fast, net an early goal and that changes the complexion of how Tunisia go about their business.
So let’s throw a wild – albeit logical – bet out there. Harry Kane to Score Anytime and England to Win at 20/21 (1.95) with William Hill.
